BRING A NEW OR GENTLY USED BOOK TO THE WALK!
Brian White, whom we walk in honor of, was a dedicated teacher, mentor and advocate of children. To help continue his legacy we are holding a book drive to benefit children in the greater Metro Detroit area.
Please bring a new or gently used children’s book to the walk, and we will donate them to local area facilities in need.
*Past donation recipients include Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital Pediatrics, Care House of Oakland County & various Little Free Libraries throughout Oakland County.
Why We Walk
THERE IS A NEED AND WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
THERE IS NO CURE FOR APLASTIC ANEMIA AND BONE MARROW FAILURE DISEASE.
APLASTIC ANEMIA IS A RARE DISEASE WITH ONLY about 600-900 people are diagnosed IN THE U.S.A each year.
TREATMENTS AND TRANSPLANTS CAN IN SOME CASES LEAD TO REMISSION BUT IS OFTEN ONLY TEMPORARY.
